| Resolved Question: What Dose of Revolution is safe to treat rats for lice? No one can give me an absolute answer-Even the vets who treat rats. My rat obviously got rat lice from it's bedding-No other source can explain it. The problem is no vet around here really treats rats in their claim for exotic animals. I've been all weekend trying to get a vet who knows the correct dose for this and I don't want to kill my pet rat, but he needs this treated ASAP. | Resolved Question: is it dandruff or lice eggs? after I got out of the shower I was looking in the mirror and combing my hair. At the crown of my head I saw tiny white specs and I am freaking out because I don't know if it is lice or dandruff. I wear a lot of product in my hair, especially hairspray. I wasn't digging in my hair to find these white specs. I was just looking in the mirror and saw them and a few came out in the comb. I only saw them at the crown of my head. | Resolved Question: Why does my penis itch? For the past couple days now, I have been experiencing some intense genital itching. The itching began between my thighs and I attributed it to the heat. I used some gold bond to help alleviate the itching when it was between my thighs. The itching moved, however, to now be localized on my scrotum and most recently my penis. Its hard to describe the itching. It is not really a burning or stinging and it feels as if it is under the skin. The only redness that I have observed seems to be due to the scratching rather than being the cause of the itch. I did a thorough check for pubic lice and found no signs of it. I did this just to rule it out for any trying to properly answer my post, but I ruled out any STD by virtue of being in a completely committed and monogamous relationship for over three years. I have an appointment with my doctor early next week, but I wanted to see if I could get any ideas as to the cause of the itching or ways I could attempt to alleviate the symptoms before then. Other information that may be pertinent: I currently take Tramadol 100mg 3/day (tramadol works much like an opioid and the opioids have been known to cause a histamine response, although I do not believe it is usually localized). I have been taking tramadol for a year but just recently made the switch from 50 mg 3/day to 100. Thank you in advance for thought you might have. Recently the itching has been keeping me awake at night and I really want to see if there is anything I can do before my appointment to help stop the itch. |

It seems that most of the sites that discuss the transmission of pubic lice say about the same things. Those "same things" seem to have derived from anecdotal sources. I wonder if the normal method of transmission of pubic lice is so disquieting to some victims that they consequently deny the reality that they may have indeed contracted the condition by sexual contact. | Resolved Question: I found out our daughter's friend's mother knew she had head lice and didnt bother to tell us before coming? Today I got a call about having to come pick up my 8 year old from day camp because she's got lice. The day camp just started today so it didn't come from there. I figured it came from a sleepover my daughter just had for her birthday. I called up the other parents to let them know and thats when one of the mothers said that her daughter had come home from sleepaway camp with lice but she didn't think it was that bad, and my daughter's party was the same night the girl got home from camp so there wasn't time to treat it. | Resolved Question: what would I need to do to take custody? Hi I'm the father of two little girls, 7 and 4. They have lived with the mother for some time. She lets me see them when she's in a good mood. They love being with me and even behave better with my fiance and me. I have know her to be using drugs for quite a while. But untill now I belived I had no power. She recently had another child, and got CPS called because she had coccain in her system. CPS told her she had to take drug and parenting classes. Also that her other childs father was not allowed around any of the children. Didn't drug test her or anything!! So she still continues to do all of these things around my children. I moved to Austin recently with my fiance and her grandmother. I have found many more oppertunities here, and believe my children will be better off with me. She schedualed to have me put on childsupport, even though I am constantly there for my children. In the past she'd ask me for money and I'd give it to her, then my children would come over with the same old shoes, no socks, lice in their hair, and wearing 11 month old dresses as shirts. I stopped giving her money and started buying my kids what they needed. She didn't care, I bought my daughter a 500 dollar barbie jeep and she still complained and tryed putting me on childsupport. | Resolved Question: Is there anything I can do to make me skin stop being so overly sensitive? I have incredibly sensitive skin and it's really annoying me. I mean if a stray hair touches me I itch like mad even if it's my own hair on my face I'm constantly scratching my face and head people must think I have lice :( Also almost all clothing makes me itch especially jeans whether they are tight or loose or whatever I wash them with they cause my upper thighs to itch and feel like my skin is swollen. | Resolved Question: underweight and Type 2? I have been suffering with Diabetes for 5 months now and can not get any relief, I'm hoping someone may have gone through what I am dealing with now and can point me in the right direction. I was diagnosed with Type 2, I am 5'5, 36 years old, weigh 125lbs, I consider myself a healthy eater and a moderately active person. I have moderately high blood sugars ranging from 100-200. I am a human blood glucose machine. As soon as I start to go up (over 140) I know it right away and become ridiculously miserable. I start to get a weird feeling in my mouth that resembles the coating you get after eating one of those cheap microwave butter popcorn bags, which starts me on the constant fluid intake and restroom breaks. If it stays high I start to feel like I will literally turn to dust, my skin and scalp become itchy (so itchy I swore I had lice once even though no one could find anything and even treated my self for lice). I get weak where even getting up to go to the restroom is an effort. I just have an overall lousy feeling. When my blood sugars get in the 150-160 range it starts to affect my emotions and I will burst into tears almost instantly, which can be quite embarrassing in a public place. I am constantly tired. I honestly cannot take it anymore! It's affecting my work and my home life (I am a single mom with 3 teenagers, and high stress.) I am currently taking the tried and true, Metformin 1000 mgs in the morning and another 1000 mgs in the evening. To be perfectly honest it helps a little bit by taking the edge off my symptoms, my blood sugar is still a roller coaster. I have tried other meds, such as Actos, but that did nothing for me. It can be fine one moment and then in an instant I can feel like I'm dieing. My a1c is always perfect (5.5), but I am VERY anemic, and that can cause lower a1c. I have fought with kidney infections all my life. My doctor thinks I am hypochondriac and has even giggled at my symptoms when I tell him. I am in a rural community and there are no specialists in this field here, as well as the fact that I am not currently insured at the moment. Almost all the information I have on this horrible disease is from the internet and books as my doctor, told me nothing. I am wondering if it is possible that I may have been misdiagnosed...... Perhaps a type 1? I feel like I am losing my sanity along with my health and I need help. Any advise on how to handle my situation??? |

| Resolved Question: I need some help with training my dog.? Hi. I have searched around and found a few answers, however some of them are from different situations than mine, and I wanted to post this to get answers that are applicable to my situation. So, I am fostering a dog for the blind association where I live. It is the 4th dog I am taking care of, but it is the first Irish Shepherd I have really ever seen. And he is about 4 months old now. The 3 previous dogs (that I had for about 1-2 years each) were all Labrador retrievers. I have quite a few 'new' problems with this one, the major one being eating of stones. Being that the snow has only recently melted here, there are a lot of stones that have still not been brushed of the street, and I find myself forcing my dog to keep his head up, and not allowing him to sniff anything until we are safely out on a grass field (where he usually finds a stone anyways). Also, walking on a leash is really up and down. He can walk perfectly quite a while, and then pull every witch way. I have tried to hold a treat in front of him to keep him to follow, however he easily louses interest in it. He also pulls very much after leafs that are blowing around on the ground, something I do not blame him for, being a shepherd, but makes walking on a leash difficult. My last big problem is people, dogs, cars and anything with wheels. I have had him downtown once, something that surely exhausted him, and also me. I don't know if this is because he is a puppy, or a shepherd, but he pulls insanely towards people, and he is wild after cars, bicycles, skateboards, etc. I am mostly worried about the cars and bicycles, because he can be hurt, or knock down some poor guy on his bike. He is never off leash near cars, as I live in a town, and we have quite a lot of traffic outside our house. I do have full control of him, however, I wish to have him walk nicely not even noticing the cars going by, and not lungingat them like he is doing now. The same regarding bicycles. I do hope that this is enough information to get some help with my problems. I should also note that we will attend a course in about a months time, however I have a lot of free time between studies, and wish to work as much with him a possible. And I am yet to find any toy or food that will keep his attention for longer than a few seconds, so if anyone has an idea for a good toy for a shepherd it would also be nice. Thank you very much! |

I have done my research and everything, I made a report on why I should get one, an information report, a poem, everything!! I used to have a rabbit when I was 6 (I'm 12 now) We had to give her away because my dog was 13 and really sick and mom was pregnant and we had lice and we couldn't give the rabbit the proper attention. My dad got me interested about the rabbits and stuff. Then he bought me one. Now my mom and I want one sooo bad! My dad WILL NOT get me one. He HATES to give in. He is really stubborn. I tried to explain to him that HE bought me the bunny before. I tried to find the issue to this and it is because he says he knows I won't clean the cage, I won't play with it, and I will loose interest. I didn't clean the cage when I was 6 because my mom said I was too young. I would offer and she would get pissed at me because she was trying to clean the cage and watch the bunny at the same time. So every time I offered to help she would say no I'm too young. And I didn't loose interest when I had her. So the question is how can I get my stubborn dad to say yes!?? By the way don't say "Be responsible" "Do Chores" "Save up money" Because none of this works I have tried. And I have well over 300 dollars for everything and the local shelter has rabbits for 35 dollars so if I got one I know how much it is and where toget one. | Resolved Question: tiny red spots on goldfish? I recently rescued a tiny baby crown pearl scale from nasty conditions at a pet store. He had lice, ich, fin rot, ammonia burns, and very very small red spots on his side. I've been medicating him for about a week and he's looking great though not ready to be put in the big tank with the other goldfish. One thing that has not improved on this little guy is the red spots. They don't look so inflamed now, but the spots are still there. Just a few. They're in a tiny cluster on one side of his body. (above his belly) They're very small, and you'd probably miss them now that his skin isn't so irritated. They do appear to be under his scales or wedged between them, it's very hard to tell due to their size. What are they and how do I treat them? I've found mixed information just doing searches. ----------------------------- He's 2 inches long in all and I have him in a ten gallon hospital tank. Activated carbon removed. He's been on a malachite green medication for the last week for the parasite infestations (so he's had 3 doses) and I just started him on tetracycline today, based on my research online which suggests it's bacterial. He's otherwise alert, active, a good eater, and colorful. Thanks una, I added salt with his water change, and he's been getting a pea every couple of days. I'll definitely look into getting a medication that will take care of any internal issues. Hopefully all his happy behavior is a good sign. Even if he doesn't make it, at least he was in a nice clean environment eating quality food for a little while. Thanks again for the advice and link! |

| Voting Question: is it lice or dandruff? help please!? soo, for the past little while ive been what i think is dandruff but im not sure if it is lice where i am living it has been pretty dry and cold plus i usually straighten my hair almost everday if that information is necessary i started to use head and shoulders to get rid of it, and it definitely decreased the dandruff in my hair but still it pops up i've always have kinda of an itchy scalp but when i scratch i get chucks of white under my nails, which im guessing is dried product i didnt completley get rinsed out but im getting ichting at the lower of my neck...i have dandruf all over my head right now and im sooo worried please help, are nits usually bigger than dandruff? any characteritics that could set them apart? |

| Resolved Question: Should I be concerned? I think his abusive ex uses the children to have a over-involved relationshipw/him.? My boyfriend and I have a baby together and we live together. His ex-wife abused him when they were together and hid the entire pregnancy of their second child, from him sought no medical attention and binge-drank during this pregnancy. She primarily raised them when he was in the military and they appear to have behavioral traits that reflect low self-esteem. It is heartbreaking but not especially shocking considering the unsanitary and disheveled appearance they have when they return from their mothers' home. He has them five days a week. I have an older child and have helped him care for these girls. This is partly because of the information I naturally had already from raising a child. Their mother continually engages in behavior that shows she is a very "passive" parent. She showed in interest in finding different pre-schools for them, When it came to Kindergarten, she showed no interest in finding or applying for a school or after-care program for her older daughter. She can't be bothered to do basic things like treat her child for lice or consistently give her athlete's foot medicine. I stepped in and assisted him with these things since he wasn't. Ok. Nothing to be done about that. My boyfriend gives me money but rarely helps with our baby. In the past five months, he has taken her on three walks. Sometimes he has managed to not see the baby for days at a time. I asked him to go with me to a friend's home for dinner he refused. However he agreed to go trick-or-treating with his ex-wife(which I argued with him overs so he didn't). He went to her home for Thanksgiving. Two weeks later he attended a school birthday party w/her and was less-than forthcoming about the arrangement, then the next day he attended a pre-school event in the evening with her, that he didn't tell me about even though I have often dropped-off and picked-up the girl from that school. His ex-wife tells him things that have nothing to do with the children. This include things such as; her brother's girlfirend;s miscarriage, the last time she had sex, her own pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage last year. He then wonders why she calls him for trivial matters. He thinks nothing of talking to her late at night, or the two ofthem texting back and forth at odd hours. He gets annoyed that she calls him and tries to engage him in unnecessary conversation. I say he sends her mixed messages. She was married to him less than four years and still has his last name. I think he relates to her like when they were married-walking on eggshells. The children are exceptionally tired and cranky on the days their mother drops them off at school. He tells me he can't talk to her about certain things because she will just lie(for ex. the time she gets them to bed), but then why hang around somebody so much that you feel that way about? He isn't even sure if the child from the second pregnancy is his(his children lokk NOTHING alike), seeing as not only did she admittedly have an affair w/another soldier(one he knew) while her husband was in the ARMY, she took out a loan for this lover and put up the car her husband owned since before he knew her as collateral. She then asked her husband to repay it when the guy skipped out, and this guy may be the father of his second daughter that he is raising and that I have helped him with-he refuses to get a DNA test. I think he is in denial. With all that it seems pathetic that he works so hard to make sure the children have their mother(even though she appears distinterested) to the point where he doesn't mind excluding me from social functions or obligating himself to them without consulting me. Seeing as she appears to be a very uninvolved parent, it seems all these arrangments and communication with her are excessive. I understand they have to havea civil relationship, but some of it appears just plain inappropriate and disproportionate considering her lack of passion when it comes to the children. She requested the divorce. He takes the girls to counseling and other activites and she does nothing. He does all this and wonders why she referred to him as her"best friend" on facebook. She also expressed regret of not being able to "go back" o what she had before. I think they are over-involved. Also, she has harasssed me in the past. He has them five days/wk. Actually Garnett, with all due respect....I am not questioning the acquisition of headlice. I pick the children up and I see for myself the condition the children are in. The children love me and they have behavioral problems at school that they complain about. Also the ex-wife with whom I have soken) wllingly made the arrangment for him to have them five days/wk. I havean older chil who isn't beglected so why would I encourage him to neglect his children/. My baby with him is his child too. When he was thinking about putting them in counseling, I found different resources for him and he actually ended doing one of them. For your attitude that appears so smug, where what University did you use when you acquired your PhD? His mother used to complain about the condition the children would present with and I didn't assume anything until I saw it for myself. Also less than 1% of women hide pregnancies. I have known him for 17 yrs, I attended the baptismal party for her older older child that she attended, she was 7 mths pregnant then and seeking no medical or alternative attention. Her mother and her identical twin with whom she was close and lived and worked with during part of his deployment and her pregnancy did not know about the baby. She binge-drank alcohol when she was pregnant and her husband stayed. Also, at least I am not giving out names and I am publicly asking advice, but instead of being helpful you are being hateful. I have children of my own. I don't want his. His three year old kept complaining that "grabbed"her neck and the pre-school called CPS. Because the mother played nicety-nice, the case was dropped. Also, she has harassed me in the past, she only cemented his position on complaints. So, why don't you reapproach with some more of that Southern Hospitality I hear about? I think it is important to have a "civil relationship" for the kids. I think it is pathetic to use children as pawns to make a relationship where there is none. I am glad you have four well-adjusted adult children. I imagine you had the wherewithal to love them deeply and care for them properly. I imagine this included washing and brushing their hair at three and four years old. I also imagine you showed interest in where they went to school. You got too afford that I know a little of what I am talking about. It isn't uncommon for an abuse victim to continue relating to the abuser the same way to avoid conflict even if the ultimate result is enabling. Furthermore, while you are being so Puritanical, he actually asked me to marry him. I declined. While he is far from perfect his wife concealing a pregnancy is a strange occurence(less than 1%) of women. You have to afford I know a little of what I am talking about. He married her while she was a pregnant minor and stupidly-they offered him $10,000 extra for Basic training because of it. |
