| Open Question: I can not get rid of the lice on my 9yr olds head, HELP PLEASE? 2 Months ago my step daughter brought these home from her mothers , we went hours upon hours, treating, washing , vacuuming , and spraying. I have followed all directions for the OTC treatment , and then last week i spent 3 hrs on my 9 yr olds head. For some reason she is the only one who keeps getting them back. I have sprayed and vacuumed and washed , it just not working im on the point of a nervous break down. We have bagged all stuffed animals and pillows that cant be washed. I don't know what else to do. Please help me, im loosing my mind, and my poor daughter is going to be bald by the time I am finished with her head. I have even went as far as cutting out the nits. |

Using her idea, write a response to it. Etc... In the book Bird by Bird Anne Lamott, the author, puts creative personality and humor to writing lessons. Between writing about personal life lessons and stories, Lamott teaches her audience what it is like to be an author in the real world. Each chapter tells how she taught her classes how to write, while helping them to find their own style. Throughout the book I learned and related to many topics she touched on, such as taking notes, and having opinions. Lamott says, ?Still, I believe in lists and I believe in taking notes, and I believe in index cards for doing both? (133). I can relate to this chapter very well. The author talks about how she is constantly taking notes, and has index cards laying around. I also enjoy taking notes and being organized. Every time I have to write any kind of paper, there are always tons of note cards and highlighters all over my room. Even though in an earlier chapter Lamott talks about how writers do not need to be perfectionists, I try and be as organized as I can. When I stay organized with notes, it helps me keep focused and stay on task. Also, if notes are taken while reading, it makes the writing process simpler, no flipping back to the book. ?When we listened to our intuition when we were small and then told the grown-ups what we believed to be true, we were often either corrected, ridiculed, or punished. God forbid you should have your own opinions or perceptions ? better to have head lice? (Lamott, 110). In the chapter about losing broccoli, Lamott reminds us not to doubt what we really want to say. I know this chapter had good advice for me, because sometimes I can over think things when all I need to do is listen to my broccoli. I agree with what she says about grown-ups not listening to opinions, it should not be that way. Considering that children are the future, parents should encourage them to have a voice and perceptions. Anne Lamott shares information on writing that her audience can relate to. She achieves this by putting in stories, and humor to connect with the reader. This helped me to pick topics that I either needed improvement on, or something I had similar experiences with. I understood her view on taking notes and listening to my broccoli, because that is a part of writing I enjoy and want to continue to learn. I recently got lice from my boyfriends little sister, I dyed my hair today, and got my mom to comb out most of the nits, there's still a few more, but I was wondering, did the hair dye kill all the nits as well? and should I get my mom to go through my hair with the comb again? Or if I dyed my hair, do I really have to comb out the rest of the nits?? Any help is greatly appreciated. And rude comments won't really affect me. Because It's just head lice, and A lot of people get them. No matter what age. |
| Open Question: does anyone have any tried and tested methods of head-lice prevention.? My 2 year old has just started nursery and she has quite long hair, which i will of course be tying back. | Open Question: Do you think I might have lice? Well, my head itches a lot. Only when I skip a shower. But that is rarely. It' mostly itches on the top of my head and under my head/hair. Sometimes it hurts, and why I think I have lice is because I feel like something is biting my head. When I scratch my head, and I could see in my nails tiny chocolate brown things. They don't move but I am pretty freaked out and I need answers. I took a shower about 3-4 hours ago. It doesn't itch, but I feel the biting and I feel like little bugs are crawling in my head. | Resolved Question: Do I still have head lice? I got head lice this summer from someone, not sure who, and I have done all kinds of treatments... started treating them over a month ago. I used a few over-the-counter treatments, oil/Listerine method many many times, mayonnaise twice, and even prescription pesticide/ovide once. I haven't found any bugs in my combing since the first two treatments, but I kept finding eggs. My head doesn't itch hardly at all compared to when I first found them, but I still feel crawly sensations/tickling, and it sometimes itches. I don't know if this is just from the bites still healing (over a month ago??) or from all the treatments I've done... the doctor's prescription made my hair go crazy with dandruff, but that was three weeks ago and the dandruff has almost cleared. Ugghhhh I just wish there was some way I could KNOW they were gone... ??? -Even went to school nurse and she said I'm good. -When I randomly comb, I still find random little white things. But that could be weird dandruff? Agh I dunno. |
